What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy which focuses on changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, and teaches you how thoughts, feelings and behaviour are interlinked and can become a vicious cycle. CBT can help any issue affecting your happiness including anxiety, depression, OCD, disordered eating, social anxiety, and stress. CBT teaches new useful strategies and opens up options and choices for a happier way of being, that may not have been so apparent before.

CBT is generally a shorter term therapy, but it depends on the individual and the complexity of the issues. It suits some people, and doesn't suit others, so feel free to get in touch to talk about it. At Daring Greatly Counselling & Psychotherapy we offer CBT, in addition to being an 'integrative' practice - that means we tailor the therapy to suit the individual and their needs.
